Learn About Wind MitigationClay Schleitwiler has spent most of his career in construction. Before founding Tampa Bay Inspections in 2011, he coordinated large construction projects across Florida for Coreslab Structures. That background gives him a deep understanding of how homes are built and where problems hide, and clients consistently say he “knows a lot about all trades involved in a home.”
Today, Clay leads a small team that includes inspector Eric Dennis, and the standard is the same on every job: inspect each home with the utmost care, be thorough, and explain the findings clearly. Clay is a Certified Master Inspector®, a Certified Commercial Property Inspector, and an InterNACHI Certified Mentor who helps train other inspectors, and his team is always available to answer questions long after the inspection is done.
Every residential inspection follows the Florida Standards of Practice for home inspectors, and commercial inspections follow the International Standards of Practice for Inspecting Commercial Properties. Review exactly what an inspection covers.

Responsive, professional, and thorough. The owners were hiding serious electrical issues that would have easily been missed by other inspectors. He likely saved me 30K in hidden costs."
"At one point of the inspection I was ready for it to be over.. I thought all areas were covered and I was satisfied. Clay continued to pile on top of the report for the next 30-45 minutes. The report was 70 pages long and he gave key negotiation points to my realtor which allowed me to get my dream home at a great price."
"Buying a home can be stressful, but Eric and Clay gave us a much better understanding of the home's condition and helped us feel more confident moving forward. We truly appreciate the time and effort they put into the inspection. I would definitely recommend Eric, Clay, and their company to anyone looking for knowledgeable, honest, and thorough home inspectors."

Our inspectors evaluate the home's visible and accessible systems and components from the roof to the foundation, including the structure, exterior, roof, attic, insulation, electrical, plumbing, water heater, heating and cooling, windows, doors, and interior, following the Florida Standards of Practice. You receive a detailed report with photos that helps you set priorities for repairs.
Your detailed, photo-filled report is typically delivered the same day as the inspection, so you have time to act within your inspection period.
A wind mitigation inspection documents the features of your home that help it resist wind damage, such as roof shape, roof deck attachment, roof-to-wall connections, and opening protection. Florida insurers are required to offer discounts for qualifying features, and the inspection report helps you claim them.
A four-point inspection reviews the roof, electrical, plumbing, and heating and cooling systems. Many Florida insurance companies require one for older homes before writing or renewing a policy.
